My UPVC door is difficult to lock and open...
If the door can be locked or unlocked easily while the door is open, but struggles when the door is closed, this usually tell us that the locking mechanism and it's keeps are not aligned. UPVC doors are designed to be adjustable but over time with frequent use hinges may drop and cause the door not to sit square in its frame causing problems when trying to close and lock the door.
Lock is stiff and difficult to open...
Firstly, never force the lock as this can create more problems to add to the list.Secondly, this may be caused for a number of reasons - most commonly dirt and debre build up accumulated over time. To save yourself money first try and lubricate the lock with a lubricant such as WD40 or graphite (Do not use an oil based lubricant as this can cause the dirt and debre to thicken and create a bigger problem.) If this still does not work there may be a deeper problem, at this point feel free to contact us and we will be able to send an engineer out to diagnose your problem.
The key turns but my door wont lock/unlock?
This is most likely a faulty mechanism and/or gear box. Over time mechanisms can be susceptible to wear and tear and end up seizing up. Our team of engineers will diagnose your problem on call out and either be able to fix your problem that day or temporarily secure your home until a new mechanism is ordered in (usually next day).
My key has broken off in my door...
Due to weather conditions causing your key to become brittle or perhaps forcing the lock. We recommend that you do not try turning the broken key or try to extract it by yourself as this can cause the broken key to slip deeper into the key way and make it harder to retrieve. Contact us and we will send an engineer out to you to extract your key for you.
