Physical access control

Code locks and digital door locks, fitted without wiring

A code lock is the simplest way to control a door without keys. Mechanical push-button locks need no power at all; battery digital locks add user codes, fobs and audit options without running cables.

Mechanical push-button code locks

Robust and maintenance-light, with no batteries to change. Ideal for staff rooms, store rooms, cleaners' cupboards and internal doors. The code can be changed whenever staff change.

Battery digital locks

Electronic keypads, often with fob or card readers, powered by batteries in the lock. Multiple user codes can be added and removed, and some models record who opened the door and when.

Where they work well

  • Offices, staff areas and server cupboards
  • Care home and school internal doors where keys go missing
  • Communal doors in small blocks and HMOs
  • Garden gates and outbuildings with weatherproof models

Fire doors and escape routes

On fire doors we fit products suitable for the door, and on escape routes the lock must always allow free exit from inside. We will advise on this during the survey.

Questions we are often asked

Do code locks need an electrician?

No. Mechanical and battery digital locks are self-contained, so there is no wiring.

When should I choose a powered system instead?

When you have several doors, many users, or you want to add and remove people centrally. See standalone and Paxton access control.
