Electronic locking hardware

Maglocks, electric strikes and door controllers

Access control is only as good as the hardware on the door. We fit and replace the locking devices, controllers, power supplies and exit devices behind keypad, fob and Paxton systems, and match each one to the door it is on.

Hardware we fit and replace

  • Surface and shear-type maglocks
  • Fail-safe and fail-secure electric strikes
  • Motorised and solenoid electric locks for timber, aluminium and steel doors
  • Door controllers and power supplies with battery backup
  • Request-to-exit buttons, green break glass units and electric release handles
  • Door loops and cable transfers for hinged doors

Faulty doors we are called about

Because we also repair doors, closers and frames through Essex Door & Window Repairs, we can fix the door itself as well as the electronics.

  • Doors that will not lock, or will not release
  • Maglocks that have lost holding force or are misaligned
  • Readers and keypads that have failed
  • Doors that drop or bind, putting strain on the lock

Questions we are often asked

What is the difference between fail-safe and fail-secure?

Fail-safe hardware unlocks when power is lost and is used on escape routes. Fail-secure stays locked without power and suits doors that are not escape routes, such as stock rooms.

Can you repair hardware on a system someone else installed?

In most cases, yes. We will check the hardware and wiring at the door and tell you what needs replacing.
